What some would just refer to as “CBD” – is reaching higher and higher popularity all of the time. CBD is not just CBD alone, nor should it be. Full Spectrum Hemp Oil includes other cannabinoids such as CBC and CBG, and many others. And like essential oils, Full Spectrum Hemp Oil also includes terpene molecules such as Limonene and Eucalyptol. What does this mean? In a nut shell, you should strive to have full spectrum hemp oil, just as much as we strive to have full and complete essential oils. CBD alone, is a common item available on the market today, and unfortunately there is often not enough information or education to know the differences.
Full Spectrum Hemp Oil can be an amazing support to the body. Just like you, I wanted to use “CBD” products, but finding one that I truly trusted to be of the highest quality, safety, and efficacy was daunting. However, fate usually introduces you to the correct people, at the correct time! And that was the case in 2019 when I met the owners and operators of the Boulder Hemp Company – who also provide amazing full spectrum hemp oils and products for other well respected companies such as Earth Buddy. For sure, I love to use Earth Buddy Hemp Extracts for Pets – when I want a full spectrum hemp product alone.
Naturally, my passion is with essential oils. Many companies had tried to join forces with me to co-create an essential oil-full spectrum hemp product – but it just isn’t easy sometimes to feel that you have full creative or quality control in some partnerships. I wanted to be in complete charge of the essential oils and recipes that would be used within a full spectrum hemp product.
And we are FINALLY here! After visiting the farms of Boulder Hemp Company, and learning of the insane amount of knowledge that Earth Buddy has regarding proper processing and use of full spectrum hemp oil with animals – I knew this was the source of full spectrum hemp oil that I wanted to mix essential oils with. And so the journey began…
For many months, various essential oils and concentrations have been formulated and tested within our hempEO full spectrum hemp oil blend. And we are VERY HAPPY with the results! From friends who have dogs with thunderstorm and fireworks anxieties, to painful baby goats and even older arthritic parrots – hempEO has been getting a wide testing ground – and we are FINALLY ready to release it to the public!
The essential oils added to hempEO provide amazing support to the body – physically and mentally. It is a perfect combination of oils to not only enhance the flavor of the hemp oil (which can be difficult for some animals to take), but they offer many aspects of therapeutic support. Copaiba, Spearmint, Anise, Fennel, Plai, Ginger, and Black Cumin Seed Oil are combined within a base of Fractionated Coconut Oil and the Full Spectrum Hemp Extract.
All of the hemp sourced for use within hempEO, is grown outdoors, in the beautiful setting of Longmont Colorado. All of the hemp is grown under the guidelines of the Department of Agriculture and complies with having 0.3% or less of THC content. The farms use rigorous, organic standards, and never spray the plants with pesticides. Crops are routinely tested for purity and potency, and even the water for the plants is from the super clean glacial melt in the Rocky Mountains!
The small four acre farm ensures that a healthy and potent plant, is always produced and easily monitored. We actually participated in the hand harvesting, and hanging of the plants to dry as part of our research into sources. The quality control and dedication is evident, and contributes to the utmost purity of the product. The hemp grown at this farm is used for both humans and animals, and the farm is also a Hemp Research & Development site, run by professionals with PhD’s in Evolutionary Biology and Biochemistry . Again, if you are looking for a high quality full spectrum hemp oil without essential oils blended into it – we FULLY recommend Earth Buddy products, as well as their vast information and education! We are not looking to recreate products that are already amazing (check out their synergistic mushrooms, treats, and other products as well!) – but my passion and knowledge has been driving me towards creating full spectrum hemp and essential oil blends, and I cannot be thrilled enough that they are finally here! Birds & Exotics: Full Spectrum Hemp Oils have not been used extensively with exotic animals. However, we have a Macaw parrot using hempEO right now, and while it is early within his trials – he is responding very well. He is a feather picker and mutilates some of his own tissues. This can be a horribly difficult condition to deal with, and he appears to be gaining more comfort through use of hempEO. We suggest working with your veterinarian if you would like to try hempEO for your birds or exotic animals. Start with very low doses, usually mixed with other coconut oil or foods – the dose of 4-6 drops per 20 pounds, one to two times a day, still applies – so you will need to dilute the hempEO further for most smaller animals. For example, add 1 drop to 5cc of carrot babyfood for a rabbit – the whole 5cc would be appropriate for a 3-5 pound rabbit. For smaller animals – 1cc of a similar mixture (use any food item or carrier oil your animal enjoys) would be appropriate for an animal weighing approximately 1 pound. Start with small amount, and gradually increase the amount given if needed. In the future, we plan to release a hempEO formula diluted specifically with these animals in mind.
Cats: Cats can certainly take hempEO – and should gradually increase to the recommended dose of 4-6 drops per 20 pounds of body weight, once to twice a day. Cats can be more particular about tastes, and so in the future we plan to release a hempEO formula dedicated to cats and smaller animals – striving to make it highly palatable and easy to deliver. Many cats still enjoy hempEO, but certainly mixing it with tasty items such as Chicken Babyfood, or Tuna oil/juice/meat can be an easy way to have your cat enjoy taking their hempEO. Some cats may salivate or “foam” at the mouth from any odd taste – and this can be totally normal. Start with very small doses, and gradually increase as needed.
Dogs: Dogs respond to hempEO fabulously! For most dogs, they find it a palatable formula, which can be given by mouth, or even dripped into food or onto treats. Give 4-6 drops per 20 pounds of body weight, once to twice a day. Start with low doses, and gradually increase to effect. As every dog is different, we highly recommend finding the perfect dosing range for your individual animal.
Horses & Large Animals: Horses often do well when taking full spectrum hemp products. If you would like a horse treat containing high quality, full spectrum hemp – we suggest H&J Equine Supplements found HERE. hempEO contains additional beneficial essential oils, which makes it a highly palatable, synergistic formula for your horse. The essential oils added to hempEO support gut health as well as provides additional support for conditions in which inflammation is a headliner. We suggest measuring out hempEO into a syringe for large animals, so they do not accidentally break the glass dropper that comes within the bottle. And average horse, cow or other large animal will typically be given 1.5 mL to 3 mL of hempEO, once to twice a day. Adjust amount given for smaller ponies, or for goats, sheep, and other livestock. Soaking hempEO into a treat or other foods can also be a great way to give it.
